Release date: February 1st, 2025
In 2024, we experimented with a beta header that grouped the modules by jobs-to-be-done into a single-line header. For example, all planning modules were grouped in the "Plan & Book" menu, all production modules were grouped in "Design & Deliver", and all accounting modules were grouped in the "Receive & Pay" menu.
The goal of the beta header was to gather information about optimizing header space and tools/modules for quick discovery, understanding, and access.
Existing users were kept in the legacy header, with an opt-in option to try the beta header and an opt-out option to return to the legacy header. New users were automatically configured to the beta header.
We gathered feedback for many months and finally analyzed it last month. It was clear that the main friction was the double-click action needed to access a module - to access the Media insertions module, you had to click on the "Plan & Book" to open the menu and then click on the Media insertion module.
Considering the feedback, we decided to optimize the header for all users.
Let's have a look...
New header
To solve the main issue, we built the new header on two lines. The first line contains the logo and the tools, and the second line includes the modules.
The new header offers a good balance of space, quick discovery, understanding and access to the tools and modules in your account.
New -vs- Legacy header
Here are the changes to the new header compared with the legacy header:
- The height of the new header is a few pixels smaller than the legacy header.
- The tools take less width and are shown using icons with a dropdown menu for overview and quick actions.
- The modules are displayed almost the same way, except for the media plans module, which is shown on the left side after the dashboard/calendar.
New -vs- Beta header
Here are the changes to the new header compared with the beta header:
- The height of the new header is slightly taller than the beta header.
- The tools are displayed almost the same.
- The modules are displayed in an additional line for one-click direct access.
