Understanding the project key roles and activities

Most of the information in these articles focuses on 5 roles: Internal Clients, External Clients Team Directors, Team Member, and Administrators.

Internal Clients

An internal client is a person internal to the marketing team who submits a project to the marketing team (e.g. the marketing manager who needs assets for his media insertion.)

The key activities for the internal clients are:

• Submitting a project from a media insertion
• Submitting a project
• Consulting a project status

External Clients

An external client is a person external to the marketing team who submits the project to the marketing team (e.g. the store manager who needs to update signage in his store.)

The key activities for the external clients are:

• Accessing the marketing request system
• Submitting a project request
• Receiving notifications of a project request progress
• Consulting a project request status
• Commenting on a project request

Team Directors

The team directors are the persons who receives, validates, and assigns the projects to the team members.  

For creative teams, this is typically the creative director.  

For e-commerce teams, this is typically the e-commerce director.

The key activities for the team directors are:

• Listing new projects
• Opening a project
• Evaluating a project
• Assigning a project
• Changing a project status
• Adding a comment

Team Members

The creative team member are the persons who perform work on a project.

For creative teams, this is typically the creative designer, copywriter, or art designer

The key activities for the team members are:

• Listing assigned projects
• Opening a project
• Uploading a file
• Changing a project status
• Fixing a correction
• Adding a comment

Administrators

The administrators are the persons who configure the production settings to fit the needs of the team.

The key activities for the administrator are:

• Configure the project statuses
• Configure the project priorities
• Enable known clients to submit requests
• Enable anonymous clients to submit requests
• Configure organizations for request
• Configure request pre-approvals
• Configure request types with forms
