Release date: November 18, 2019
Filters are a powerful way to fine grain exactly the list of items you want to see in a given module.
For example, you use filters everyday to view insertions of newspapers (MediaCategory=Newspaper), or projects that are assigned to you (AssignedTo=You), or invoices that are approved (Status=Approved) among others.
Further more, you also combine filters together, for example, to view insertions of newspapers that are booked (MediaCategory=Newspaper, Status=Booked).
It is the basis of how you work in MediaPlanHQ everyday !
But filters in MediaPlanHQ had one limitation: you could only select one option per filter...
You couldn't view insertions of newspapers and magazines (MediaCategory=Newspaper+Magazines), or invoices that are approved and paid (Status=Approved+Paid) at the same time.
Prior to this release, you had to to use spreadsheets to consolidate the results of multiple filter options into a single list.
With this release, you can now select multiple options on a filter directly in MediaPlanHQ.
Let's see how it works.
A new filter configuration form
First, we completely re-designed the way you configure the filters of your list views, similar to how you configure the columns of you list views.
First, click on the "configure" button in the filters section.
This will display the new filter configuration form:
In the previous version, you could configure the filters of the different modules, but the process was tedious and required multiple clicks - you had to enter a "configuration mode", add the filters individually and then click multiple times the left/right arrows to re-order the filters
With this new version, it's easy as 1-2-3:
Step 1: Select the filters you want to see.
The filters are grouped logically together in categories.
You can use the all/none options to quickly add/remove all filters of a category.
Step 2: Define the order of the filters with Drag-N-Drop.
Step 3: Enable filtering on options
Filter option hierarchy
The filter options are now grouped together for hierarchy options such as campaigns and organizations.
This is useful when options in different hierarchy have the same name such as the "Holidays" campaign in multiple media plan.
Enabling multiple filter options
The multiple filter options is disabled by default for existing users.
This is to ensure you continue to have the exact same behaviour you are used to when using filters, and you decide if you want to enable it.
New users will have the multiple filter options enabled by default.
To enable the multiple filter options, check the "Enable multiple options" in the filter configuration form:
Filtering on multiple options
When the multiple filter options is enabled, the filter dropdown stays open allowing you to select multiple options. The list of items will refresh as you select options.
That's it ! We hope you'll enjoy these filters enhancements.
Give it a try and let us know what you think !
As always, don't hesitate to send us your great feedback or other idea for new features !
Have a great day,
The MediaPlanHQ team
