Release date: June 4, 2020
When planning broadcast ads, you'll often need to defines how many times your ad should run per day part for a given period of time.
For example, if you have a 15sec radio ad, you'd define that it needs to run 5 times every week day and 3 times every weekend day during the morning prime 6A-8A between June 1-8, 2020.
With the current version, you could only set the applicable days and total quantity for the flight.
The issue is that when sending the IO, the radio station decides for you how to distribute the 26 spots over the applicable days - most probably equal distribution.
To fulfill your desired week-day/weekend requirements, you'd need to separate your flights:
This is a simple scenario, but you can imagine that more complex scenario would require many flights data entry.
With the new version, you can define daily distribution on a flight, thus define a quantity per day for the period of the flight. This allows to define the exact same radio ad with a single flight:
Let's see how it works...
For existing users, all features works exactly the same as before if you don't use the quantity by day in your account.
Select applicable days to define weekly distribution
You can continue to only select the applicable days of your flight when creating new media insertions in the Planning module:
This is the exact same behaviour that you've been using before this new version.
Define quantity per applicable day to define daily distribution
You'll notice a new button in each flight that allows to toggle between weekly and daily distribution:
When you click on the toggle to daily distribution, the applicable days section will allow you to enter a quantity per day:
You'll notice that the total quantity become readonly and will automatically calculate based on the quantity per applicable days for the period of the flight.
Quantity per applicable day with costs
You can also define a quantity per applicable day when you allocate a cost per date:
Note that you can only define a quantity per applicable day on FLAT and /Item rate types:
If your account is configured with automatic daily cost distribution (available in beta only), the distribution will take the quantity in consideration to properly distribute the cost on the applicable dates.
For example, for the following flight:
The system would determine that unit cost of this flight is 500$ (15,500.00$ / 31 = 500$) and distribute the cost as follow:
06/01/2020 | 500$ x 5 | 2500$ |
06/02/2020 | 500$ x 5 | 2500$ |
06/03/2020 | 500$ x 5 | 2500$ |
06/04/2020 | 500$ x 5 | 2500$ |
06/05/2020 | 500$ x 5 | 2500$ |
06/06/2020 | 500$ x 3 | 1500$ |
06/07/2020 | 500$ x 3 | 1500$ |
