Release date: February 1st, 2022.
A key benefit of a media planning software is to model your media insertions in a structured fashion in order to easily pull reports.
MediaPlanHQ already provides several structures to organize the media insertions in your media plans such as organizations and medias. You can easily pull a report to know how much you've spent per media in a media plan.
But, what if you wanted to add extra information on organizations and medias in order to add an extra possible dimension to your reports.
With this release, you can add structured tags on organizations and medias in order to capture extra characteristics.
For example, you could add a "Brand" tag on organizations in order to define the brands supported by each organization. Or, you could add a "Language" tag on medias in order to define the languages supported by each media.
They are useful to filter a list of organizations based on these characteristics in lists and reports among others.
Let's have a look how it works...
Define tags
You can define the possible tags in the Administration > Tags module:
Tags can only be managed by users with administration permission.
Let's add a "Language" tag by clicking on the "Add tag" button.
This will display the "Create tag" form.
A tag has a name, description and a list of options:
You can bulk add multiple options by entering one option per line in the add option text area:
Add tag to media (or other entities)
Let's assume we want to add the "Language" tag to all medias in your account. The process is the same if you'd want to add it to all organizations.
Note that a tag could be added to both organizations and medias in your account.
Click on the Media tags view in the Administration > Tags module:
Let's add the "Language" tag as an media tag by clicking the "Add tag" dropdown and selecting the "Language" tag.
This will display the "Add media tag" form.
You can configure the tag to be required, and whether it supports multiple options.
Select tag options
The supported "Language" of each media can then be selected in the Media module.
Working with tags
You can now use tags in the planning, production, and accounting module.
